4th Annual RC SELPA Mental Health Symposium: Mental Health Matters

This session will discuss the continuum of placement options from public school placements through RTC placements for students with mental health concerns when general counseling services are not enough to meet the Student’s needs. What other options should school districts consider in the public school setting, such as specific programs and placements within the public school? If the public school setting cannot meet the student’s needs, when should we be considering other types of placement and services? The presenters will discuss cases that support moving a child to a more restrictive setting such as nonpublic schools and residential treatment centers and what factors are considered when making those decisions. Additionally, we will look at other service options and supports such as wrap around services and support services outside of the school day that might be necessary to address the student’s educational needs related to mental health.
