Mental Health Leadership in the school setting takes resilience, empathy, authenticity, and the ability to adapt when facing systemic or individual challenges. Educational Mental Health Leaders must embrace change alongside their colleagues to ensure the best outcomes for students. Leadership is one of the most highly researched topics on the planet and takes many forms. Mental health leadership encompasses creating supportive and inclusive environments that prioritize the well-being of all individuals. This involves implementing policies and practices that promote mental wellness in our schools, workplaces, and communities, along with fostering cultures of empathy, understanding, and support. Mental Health Leaders in the school setting need to inspire others to prioritize mental health systems of support and cultivate resilience. Leadership must work towards creating environments where mental health is valued and destigmatized. This session will also dive into leadership styles and support participants on their mental health leadership journey. Whether you possess innate leadership qualities or you are building a leadership skillset, educational mental health leadership can be enhanced by embracing Nelson Mandela’s vision to lead with “simplicity and humility”.
