Session will focus on trauma informed care for students/clients who have trauma exposure.  Presenter will provide a general overview of EMDR Therapy to include rationale for hour EMDR can rapidly address simple and complex trauma.  Trauma responses and signs of dissociation from triggers will be explored to allow participants to better recognize and respond in a trauma informed way to the challenges students or clients may face.  Finally, participants will practice several interventions for helping a student/client shift from emotional dysregulation to a more regulated state.

Objectives:
  • Participant has a general understanding of EMDR theory.
  • Participant can recognize potential trauma responses/dissociation.
  • Participant has several tools to help a student/client shift from a dysregulated state to a more regulated emotional state.
